The left bank katgaon is old village and the right bank katgaon is new. The govt. offices including school and hospital are situated on right bank katgaon. A guest house of H.P. State Electricity board is situated at Left Bank Katgaon. The People are Hindu by religion but some people follow the Buddhism. The people are very cooperative and friendly. There is a small playground in Left bank Katgaon, where some clubs organize  the cricket and other tournament. Apple is the main source of income of the people. Agriculture and horticulture are the livelihood. People speak kinnauri in their day to day use in home but hindi in outside their houses.
