According to the prevailing and popular story as communicated to the generations, Kanhabanshipur village was piece 100s of acres of land acquired by the two brothers known as Kanha and Banshi which later became their habitat and farm. They were Sarayuparin Brahmin and migrated from Awadh region.With the passage of time and changing social, cultural, survival and professional needs, people of other cast and communities migrated and/or invited to form social fabric and provided with shelter, livelihood, social rights and duties and allowed to settle down in the vicinity to form a village, which is known as Kanhabanshipur. The current population of village is approximately 1000 people comprising of Hindu majority and Muslim minorities, of which Hindu Brahmins are in majority, followed by Yadavas (Ahir), Harijans (Chamar), Kahar, Kumhar, Naai, Bhuj, etc. Muslim minority is mainly comprised of Shia, Julaha and Darji.

How to reach:
By Train:
1) Get down at Mariyahu station which is well connected from Allahabad Junction and trains from Mumbai, Azamgarh, Chapara, Gorakhpur and Allahabad halts at "Mariahu" station. You can hire an auto, jeep to reach Kanhabanshipur. You may take a bus from Machhalisahar chauraha and get down at Jungee Gunj and walk about 2 Kilometers to reach Kanhabashipur.
2) Get down at Bhadohi station which is on Allahabad - Varanasi route and well connected from rest of India.
Take a tricycle to reach Mariyahun chouraha and get a bus or jeep to reach Mariyahu and follow the route and means provided in option 1. You may take a private transport to Kanhabanshipur.
By Air: Nearest and busy airport is LBS International Airport, Varanasi which is approximately 37 Kilometer from Kanhabanshipur. You can book a cab from arrival terminal to the village. There is no direct public transport from airport to Mariyahun or nearby location.
