Kotli Arjun Singh was originally called as Kotli Hiroo Shah and was renamed as Kotli Arjan Singh in the early/mid 20th Century. Vast majority of the population is Lobana Sikhs and also surrounded by two colonies with harijan population who migrated from Lahore to work in fields.
Majority of the people are employed in Indian Army and remaining cultivates agricultural land. It is one of the most progressive villages in Jammu/R.S Pura region producing great proportion of professionals like doctors, engineers, and scientists. Village has also excelled in business and reasonable size of cohort is also settled abroad, i.e. UK, Italy, Australia, US and Germany.
This village was blessed with unique soil to produce one of the best Basmati rice and other cash crops. However, for the last two decades a plague of brick Kilns has emerged around the village sucking the millions of years old top soil into bricks satisfying voracious appetite of urbanizing Jammu; and turning the rich agricultural land into uneven gorges.
Despite that people live with Chardi Kala!
