About and History Of Jajur
Jajur is situated on the bank of Vedvathi river in challakere taluk. on the other hand Nagagondanahalli village. Jajur is called as Moodala Jajur since it is towards east direction and Chikka Jajur is towards west . Both are in cChitradurga dist. on the banks of there is a math called Shri Chilume Swamy was well know for his good work and avadhoot. every year there will be a fair on swamy math and lakhs of people visit on this occassion.
There is also a small hill name Somappana betta where you can find Shiva linga. people worship this god when there is no rain comes in this area. there are instances where heavy rain has come after worship.
This village has high school , police station, post office and hospital. There are importnat temples: Kriyamma , Ananjaneya, Eashwar, Shri Kodandarama, Lakshmana, Sita, Anjaneya , Ganapathi , Chandramouleswar and Shri Shankaracharya , Nagana katte . Recently Shri Rama Kothi vrindavan is also installed.
This temple was built over 80 years under the leader ship of shri Jwala Narasimha Sastry , Hanumantha Rao, Bhima rao, Dasappa mestru, Padamanabha shastry, Nagappa of Nagagondanahalli.and other important heads of brahhmin and other communities.
Due to unforceen circumstances daily pooja of Shri Rama temple stopped. We started probing reasons for this and then under guidance of shri Shama jois temple took new direction. Horse sone was laid on entrance has been removed and stalled in verticle position. Horse is called Lakshmi and people are walking on horse stone.
Recenly sri kodanda rama temple is renovated by grands sons namely;sri Ramakrishna, Sanjeeva murthy, Purushothama Sharma Simhadri Sharma Prabhakar ,Muralidhara, Srinath and brothers , . Sham Rao, Ramakrishna, Sathyam, Ravishankar , Rama murthy, Ramakrishna Puttanna of Nagagondabahalli, Dattatreya, Satynarayana ,Rradhakrshna and other members of brahmin communiites.this temple is patronized by sri sri Shrungeri Swamiji .
Brahmins of this place brought purohits from Vedadri nearly 200 years ago for their village to conduct religious functions. they spoke telugu and settled here only. Jwala narasimha sastry was well known scholar and aurvedic pandit . His name referred by TA RA SU in his novels on many occassions. Padmanabha shastry his cousin brother is also well known pandith and dramatist.
In this village we have found ruins of stones like, kusha stopping ashwamedha yaga, idols of kings from this we feel that this was ruled by a palegara. research is need to investigate.
Vedvathi river cirlces a village very near to jajur village called vrindavana hallai. Recently govt has built a check dam for vedavathi river at vrinadavana halli. Jajur is a mandal surrounded by group of villages.
