Edit About and History Of Bambuli
About and History Of Bambuli
Bambuli, our native village, around 4 km drive from Taluka Kudal. We have our Ancestral House here, built in basalt stone, and with Mangalorian tiled roof, is a typical Konkan architecture, surrounded by huge trees. There is a separate block of Kitchen & Dining space, on the left. At the lower right, there is a well built space of medium-sized house, which used to be storage space for grocery, mangoes and other edibles in olden days. We call it "Mangar" in the local tongue. Now a days, it serves as caretaker’s quarter.
Shree Dev Brahmeshwar (God Shiva), or popularly known as Shree Ravalnath in Konkan Region. Gramdaivat (protecting deity) of Bambuli village. A visit to this temple brings so many memories back from our childhood. The newly designed "Ratha" i.e. the wooden chariot, is as tall as a two storied house, and is preserved in a well built concrete shelter. Occasion of Mahashivratri, witnesses the procession when idol of God Brahmeshwar is placed in the chariot. The temple is ancient, though, the assembly hall and other blocks have been built or re-structured in the last two decades.
The legend attached to this temple is: Hundreds of years ago a cow used to release her milk at a certain spot every day. One day, the angry cowherd hit the ground at the spot, with an axe, and to his surprise, he found his axe stained in blood. With his friends, he ran off to call the owner of the property Shri. Pandit, who came at the location and told them to carefully dig further, around the place. As they went on, a Shivalinga was gradually retrieved from the earth. This Shivalinga has been established in the Dev Brahmeshwar Temple where you can still see where the axe had hit on the Linga.
You can check out the photos and videos of the town and the temple on the links mentioned at the top.
