Launched in 1970's, I remember this place as I was raised up here from the age of 6 in 1978 till I left this place in 2004.

In 1978 Jyoti Nagar was the second colony after jawahar nagar which had flats, people used to live in the city or in bunglows but never had seen flats, for them these were government provided quarters and they used to get surprised when they came to know that these are actually freehold flats.

Being initial flats the residents had the additional benefits which by the time mumbai and delhi had lost, they had broad stairs, big balconies and on top of this plenty of open and shared spaces, which is being charged these days by builders.

in the middle of the farms with fresh air and a railway line which used to showcase the speed of then fastest train Pink City, it was a delight to live there. plenty of room for kids to plat.

Flats had 1 drawing room, 1 bedroom, kitchen, separate bathroom and separate loo and a little space for wash basin. each flat had balcony and a open space, for ground floor this can be converted into kitchen garden, for 1st and 2nd floor it was terrace.

There was a small common terrace too, which we all used for our TV antennas :-).

Parking :- there was space for 2 wheeler parking and later on this started to become the cause of fights among residents. It was enough for 1 vehicle each flat but later on people started buying 2 or 3 vehicles then the problem started.

In few years whole sale mandi moved near jyoti nagar and became accessible for fresh and economical veggie shopping, shopping centre was always nearby but people still used to buy rations from old trusted shops in old jaipur city, we were called colony walas and used to think of us as modern people who are better then people living in old city houses. but poor than bunglow walas ;-)

Station and bus stand was close and so was the biggest hospital and stadium, many parks and statue circle but till early eighties it was hard to find a vehicle late in the night to commute to jyoti nagar. I remember spending hours to wait for a bus or pig shaped tempo to travel :-)
