Maruthur is a small village, has many Hindu temple. Total population would be around 300 to 500 people includes pottakulam which is also part of Maruthur. Maruthur Veeran is the main God in the village. BC and SC caste people mostly living here without any problems among them. Farming and cow/goat feeding is the main source of income to villagers. People are divided into 3 category . Kanchan vagaiara, Kesan vagaiara and Seelan vagaiara.
