After India became independent, Bhopal state was merged in India. In 1949, the Nawab of Bhopal, Hamidullah Khan, awarded 800 acres of forest land between village Rehti and village Chakaldi adjacent to Kolar river, to his army officer Major Abdul Rauf Khan. Major sahib cleared some forest and established the village "HARMOU". That was the beginning of the village. After nearly 65 years later, the village has a population of about 500. Major Sahib's family member Mr Lateef Khan, Mr Shahnawaz Khan, Mr Mohammed Farouque Khan and Hina Zakir  still live and farm in Harmou. There is a primary school and the village is connected to Chakadi and Nasrulahgang by paved roads. A canal runs through most of the land. There is electricity in the village and a bus service too.
