The local language of Amainagar is "BENGALI" . It is a bengali dominated village. The two communities are there. Bengali specking people(all are bramhin) and they are purely Bangali . Bhuina community people are there who speaks in a local language by mixing Santhali+Bengali+Kurmi . Use of Hindi language is not there at all. Before the division of bengal + the then Bihar(at the time of Sri Bidhan Ch. Roy), it was under Purulia town known as a part of MANBHUM.
The village was dominated by Zaminders' at that time when zaminderi system was there. Those zaminder was belongs to "PATRA" family, who are actually BANERJEE community but they used their tittle as "PATRA". History tells that the Zaminder of Amainagar was controlled by the Maharaja of Kashipur under purulia district and they offered them the tittle as "PATRA". Even today those Patra family people are there. Besides this Patar people other bramhin people like Mukerjee & Chattaraj. People are also there. In another part of Amainager people belongs to Dom +Hari+Bhuina community people are living. There is a very cordial relation between these two communities.
The people of both the communities lives on agriculture. It is a single cropping area.Source of irrigation is not there. Even today there is no school for primary education. One Pathshala is there but the standard of teaching below the root level. Surprise to note that there is no ELECTRICITY till today. There is no Primary Health Center. People have to wait for quake only.
A beautiful stream increases the attraction of this village. It is about 1 KM from the village from where rural people bring drinking water. It is just 17 -18 KM from Purulia town but there is no such communication to go come back from Purulia within even 8 hours. To get the road way communication (Bus etc) people have to cover more than 1.5 KM on foot.
It is situated just at the border of Bengal +Jharkhand and perhaps that is the reason it is so neglected village in India.
There is no standard primary school but the villagers celebrate Saraswati Puja with enjoyment. There is a Saraswati Mela(mandir) at the heart of the village. Every year they celebrate Saraswati puja with Light/Decoration/Jatra( drama). Pratima of Maa Saraswati prepared by the local artist. The puja continues for FOUR days. People from different villages visit Amainagar during Puja. Relatives of the villagers used to come Amainagar to enjoy the Puja days. The local people perform the Drama called ZATRA PALA. During the Pujadays villagers need not to cook their meal because every day there is the custom of offering VOZ (launch offered by the Patra+ Chattaraj family on rotation ). In the night, though electricity is not there but the puja party arrange the heir generator to light the Mandir and Mela area.
