This road is dedicated for the memmory of the well known poet, short story writer and place name historian late.V.V.K.VALATH (1919-2000) who has written so many poems in prose style which were the first style of poems in malayalam poetry before the poets Sachidanandan, Ayyappa Panicker, Attoor etc. Valath has prepared many historical essays in malayalam and his series of books in place name history such as KERALATHTILE STHALA CHARITHRANGAL- TRICHUR, PALAKKAD, ERNAKULAM AND TRIVANDRAM DISTRICTS are considered as very valuable achievements. All of that books were published by KERALA SAHITYA ACADEMI. The place VALAM is VALATH's birth place and this road goes through in front of his birth home. So the CHERANELLURE PANCHATH had named this road as 'V.V.K. VALATH ROAD' with a felicitation of honour conducted by PANDIT KARUPPAN MEMMORIAL GRAMEENA VAYANASHALA CHERANELLURE in 1997. In 1999 Valath was awarded for his whole contributions to the Malayalam language and literature by KERLA SAHITHYA ACADEMI. His demise was on 31st December 2000.
