Narur is a village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. It is located in foothills of Shivalik range. The nearest primary school is located in the villaget and the senior secondary school is Government High School Manhota, about 2 kms. The nearest college is the Khalsa College, Garhdiwala which is 13 kms away. The villagers earlier were largely engaged as farmers or were with the Indian defence forces. The villagers are very proud of the positions earned by some of their natives viz Air Cdre Harnam Singh Keshub, Col. Parmodh Singh, Hony Flying officer Roshan Lal Keshub,Subedar Hans Raj and Inspector Kashmiri Lal. Master Sukhraj, who worked as a school teacher at the Government High School, Manhota, for several years also has very high regard in the village for his contribution to teaching and later as the Head of the Village Panchayat for more than 10 years.
